Man, 27, Shot To Death In Asbury Park Aug. 9

ASBURY PARK, NJ — A local man was killed in Asbury Park last week, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said Monday.

The victim has been identified as Derek L. Bussey, 27, of Asbury Park.

Shortly after 11:45 p.m. on August 9, Asbury Park Police responded to a location on Atkins Avenue between Adams Street and Boston Way on a report of a shooting. There they found Bussey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after midnight on Thursday, August 10.

A joint investigation by members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department is continuing.
