North To Shore Music Festival Returns In 2024; Bands Not Yet Announced

ASBURY PARK, NJ — New Jersey's first-ever North to Shore music festival — which brought artists such as Carlos Santana, Demi Lovato, Rakim, The Smithereens and the B-52s to NJPAC in Newark and Stone Pony in Asbury Park — was such a hit last June that the state of New Jersey is bringing it back for summer 2024.

The festival is now being billed as the "North to Shore Arts & Ideas Festival."

Headliners will be announced in March 2024, but North to Shore 2024 will again be a three-weekend festival of live music and art in Atlantic City, Asbury Park and Newark. Dates for next summer are already set for June 10-16 in Asbury Park, June 17-23 in Atlantic City and June 24-June 30 in Newark.

Conceived by Gov. Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy, the North to Shore Festival was designed to spotlight New Jersey’s culture, diversity and spirit of innovation. Headliners for the first year of the festival included Jersey-born pop diva Halsey, hip hop legends Eric B. & Rakim, classic rocker Santana, Brazilian superstar Marisa Monte and R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan.

2023 was the first year of the festival and nearly 250,000 people attended the 300+ shows that were part of North to Shore. While most of the events were free to the public, ticketed events brought in $7.6 million in ticket sales.

For 2024, Gov. Murphy said he also wants to host panel discussions on innovation in technology, climate-change, healthcare and business.

The state is also giving out North to Shore Grants of up to $5,000 to artists, producers, small businesses and nonprofit organizations based in each festival city, to self-produce performing and visual arts events during the festival. For the first time, grants will also be offered to artists interested in performing on the North to Shore Festival Community Stages, centrally-located performance venues in each city.

Between 15 and 20 grants will be awarded in each city (Newark, Atlantic City, Asbury Park).
