Prosecutor Seeks Information About 2022 Asbury Park Homicide

The fatal shooting in Asbury Park of Kyshon Washington-Walker of Shrewsbury is still under active investigation, prosecutor says

FREEHOLD, NJ — The fatal shooting of a Shrewsbury man just over a year ago in Asbury Park is still actively under investigation by Monmouth County and Asbury Park law enforcement, and officials once again are asking for information from the public in the matter, the prosecutor's office said.

Law enforcement officials are requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed the fatal shooting that took place in Asbury Park in late July 2022, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Thursday.

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, the Asbury Park Police Department responded to a report of gunfire shortly before 7:30 p.m. from the area of the 1600 block of Sewall Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found 33-year-old Kyshon Washington-Walker of Shrewsbury who had sustained multiple gunshot injuries.

Washington-Walker was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was pronounced deceased a short time later, officials said.

Members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department continue to investigate the shooting.
