Route 33 in Monmouth County was closed because of a fatal crash on Monday, police said. The road has since reopened.

Route 33 was closed between Green Grove Road and West Bangs Avenue in Neptune Township because of the motor vehicle crash, police said.

Martin Alvarez, 29, of Brick was riding a Kawasaki ZX-6 motorcycle westbound on Route 33 at approximately 8:50 a.m. when he collided with a construction vehicle, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

The construction vehicle was pulling out onto Route 33 eastbound. Flores Pajrol, 32, of Toms River, was operating the construction truck at the time of the collision, according to the MCPO.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and the Neptune Township Police Department.
