ASBURY PARK - A public open house will be held in Asbury Park this week regarding the city’s upcoming Safe Routes to School (SRTS) pedestrian, bike and pedestrian safety upgrades.

The in-person discussion will be held on March 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. to discuss the upgrades to Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue between Prospect Avenue and Comstock Street.

The meeting will take place in the Asbury Park council chambers at 1 Municipal Plaza. It is a follow-up conversation to the public information center held in December 2021.

“The purpose of this project is to support SRTS safety and access improvements by implementing traffic calming measures on Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue between Prospect Avenue and Comstock Street,” officials wrote in a municipal alert announcing the meeting. “The project design and construction costs are funded by federal funds administered through New Jersey Department of Transportation Local Aid Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program and Design Assistance.”

At the open house, residents will be able to review SRTS Asbury Park Third and Fourth Avenue Preliminary Engineering Phase exhibits, ask questions and raise concerns via public comment.
