State, Local Officials Mark End Of NJDOT Main Street Project.

The NJDOT is marking the end of a project that stretched from Allenhurst to Asbury Park.

ASBURY PARK-New Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, along with the state’s Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti and other state and local officials, will be at a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday afternoon to mark the completion of the Main Street/Route 71 safety improvement project in Asbury Park.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will occur today at 3:30 p.m. Sunset Park in Asbury Park, between Sunset Avenue, 5th Street, Bond Street, and Main Street/Route 71.

The project was designed to improve safety and reduce congestion on Main Street/Route 71 along a two-mile stretch from Allenhurst to Asbury Park. The project includes a road diet or lane reduction, which added dedicated left-turn lanes, bike lanes, and sidewalk improvements.
