New Officer Joins Barnegat Police Department

BARNEGAT, NJ — A lifelong resident of Barnegat is serving as the town's newest police officer.

Emmanuel Koffi, 32, was sworn in to the Barnegat Police Department Thursday, the force shared in a Facebook post.

"A graduate of Moorehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, with a degree in Business Management, he has previously served as an elementary school math teacher, salesman, personal trainer, and NJ Transit bus driver," the department said of Koffi. "His varied background reflects his commitment to community service and dedication to helping others."

Koffi took his oath of office in front of Mayor Joe Marte, his family, friends and now fellow officers.

"We are very fortunate to have Officer Koffi join our team," Chief Jason Carroll said. "His background, character, and commitment to service make him a perfect fit for our department, and we look forward to seeing him thrive in his new role."

Koffi will soon start training at the Cape May County residential police academy, with an expected graduation date in January 2025, Barnegat police said.

"I am incredibly excited to attend the academy and to be part of such a professional and dedicated police department," Koffi said. "It's an honor to serve the community I love, and I'm eager to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead."
