Velez also praised the business for contributing their neighborhood as they approach their two-year anniversary.

“For anybody who doesn’t know, the Brunch Box took over from a really famous place, Rosebud’s, near School 7 – a staple,” the councilman recapped. “And it’s really been tremendous … all the things you guys have done for the community … just the care you give to the children, especially right there at School 7.”

The proclamation reads:

“Whereas Jose R. Adorno, also known as Chef Joey, has dedicated over 20 years to the culinary industry, perfecting his craft and sharing his passion for cooking with countless people,

“And whereas chef Joey's love for cooking was inspired by his grandmother, whose devotion to feeding her family, friends and community became the foundation for his culinary journey, sparking a deep desire to create meaningful connections to food,

“And whereas on January 14, 2023, Chef Joey realized his dream by opening the Brunch Box at 528 Joralemon Street in Belleville, New Jersey, a place that embodies the warmth, comfort and community spirit instilled in him by his grandmother,

“And whereas the Brunch Box has become a cherished establishment in Belleville, offering the community not only fresh, delicious, home-cooked meals at reasonable prices, but also a safe and welcoming space where every patron is treated with endless affection and respect,

“Therefore, be it resolved that the mayor and municipal council of the township of Belleville do hereby recognize and celebrate the contributions of Jose R. Adorno, ‘Chef Joey,’ to the Belleville community. We commend his dedication, passion and unwavering commitment to serving others, and we wish him continued success.”
