BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Board of Education will see its biggest change in years after the 2024 election, as two incumbents — including the current board president — are not seeking re-election.

Six people have filed candidates' petitions for the election, with three, three-year terms on the school board to be filled.

Board President Stephanie Wohlrab and member Nicole Siebert are not seeking re-election. Wohlrab is completing her ninth year on the board; she was elected in 2015. Siebert was elected to her first term in 2018 and is finishing her sixth year on the board.

Victoria Pakala is seeking her fourth term on the board. She was first elected in 2015 along with Wohlrab.

Pakala, who is running on the Believe in Brick slogan, is joined by newcomers John Henry and Nancy Ellson. Henry is a former teacher and worked for the New Jersey School Boards Association as the senior manager of their STEAM and Sustainable Jersey programs. Ellson is a nurse practitioner.

Also seeking election under the Common Sense 4Education banner are Greg J. Cohen, George Malgeri and Georgia Lane-Hansen. Cohen ran unsuccessfully for the school board last year. He is director of transportation for the West Orange Public Schools and a former bus driver for the Brick Township Schools.

Lane-Hansen is a retired educator and administrator. Malgeri is a graduate student and recently finished an internship at the 10th Legislative District.

The school board election will be part of the general election on Nov. 5.
