Brick Theater Group Serves Up A Spoonful Of Fun With 'Mary Poppins'

The Brick Community Children's Theatre is presenting the musical this weekend at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood.

Put a little supercalifraglistic in your weekend with a visit with Mary Poppins at the Strand Center for the Arts.

The musical is coming to the area courtesy of the Brick Community Children’s Theatre, which will be dancing and flying all over the stage at the theater in Lakewood.

Directed by Heather Campagno and complete with rousing tap numbers, flying actors, and the beloved songs from the classic film, the magical nanny and the Banks family will take the stage Friday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m., with additional performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Marissa DeVeau stars as Mary Poppins; Dominik Faruolo is Bert the chimney sweep (played by Dick Van Dyke in the film). The Banks family will be portrayed by Kaya Ruff as Jane Banks; Todd Ferry as Michael Banks; Tommy Gedrich as George Banks; and Hannah Scarpelli as Winifred Banks.

Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again.
