Disappointed Springsteen Fan Gets A Moment With The Boss

In a chance encounter, Brick man expresses every fan's frustration at sold-out tickets that immediately turned up on resale sites.

Many people will gawk, take photos and ask for autographs when they encounter a celebrity.

But when Tom Whitley saw Bruce Springsteen hanging out at the Manasquan Inlet on Sunday afternoon, the Brick Township resident did neither: He took the opportunity to express his frustration with the ticket purchasing system that left him and thousands of other fans of the Boss faced with exorbitant ticket prices as seats showed up on ticket reselling sites.

The issue has drawn the attention of authorities, including the New York State Attorney General, who announced plans to investigate after speculative tickets were offered for sale days before the tickets for Springsteen’s upcoming tour officially went on sale.

Whitley’s public Facebook post (in full below), where he expressed his frustration with being unable to buy tickets and seeing them within minutes on StubHub for $1,000 per seat, has been shared more than 3,400 times and has nearly 16,500 likes. In a follow-up post, Whitley said the attention the post has received has caused Facebook to crash repeatedly for him.

“Then the Boss said ’Give me your number, and I’ll make sure someone gets some tickets to you !...” This is what makes him a Jersey guy!”

“I also won’t care if I don’t get that call. The one-on-one was enough for me. Merry Christmas, Bruce!”
