Flooding Closes Part Of Route 35, Mantoloking Road: Authorities

BRICK, NJ — A deluge of rain from the storms passing through the area has flooded parts of Route 35 and Mantoloking Road, authorities said Tuesday.

Route 35 was closed in both directions from Herbert Street to Lyman Street, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office said.

Mantoloking Road was flooded from Traders Cove to the Mantoloking Bridge, Brick police said, with more than 10 inches of water covering the road.

"Unless it is an emergency, you should refrain from being on the road. Flooding is occurring on all streets throughout town," Brick Township police said in an updated alert about 5 p.m.

Flash flooding watches and severe thunderstorm watches remain in effect until 11 p.m. across Ocean County, according to the National Weather Service.
