Great Food, Great Local Art, and a Great Cause

The Weekly Photograph and Article by Local Fine Art Photographer, Colin Seitz

Via45, the rustic Italian eatery in Red Bank, NJ has offered local Fine Art Photographer Colin Seitz residency for the next few months. Seitz uses both digital and film mediums, brought to life in his studio darkroom creating black and white photographs of both local and distant places, as well as some abstract images. All of the photographs are for sale, and can be purchased at the restaurant or through Seitz’s website at the page titled “Via45” found at www.colinseitzphotography.com.

Notably, both Seitz and the Chefs of Via45 resolved that a portion of the proceeds of their collaboration should be donated back to the community. Both parties are happy to share that 30% of the purchase price of all prints sold while the work is on display in the restaurant will be donated to Lunch Break, a charity in Red Bank that helps provide food to those in need.
“I displayed my first photograph in Red Bank, had my first solo show in Red Bank and have many friends in Red Bank. It’s nice to give something back to the community that has helped satisfy me intellectually as well as nurture my photography” says Seitz, also adding, “it means a great deal to have my work in a celebrated restaurant that shares the same sense of giving back”.

Seitz has been an avid photographer since 1999, when he set up a darkroom in his apartment after deciding that of all the mediums he experimented with (oil, acrylic, water color as well as charcoal, pen, and ink) didn’t afford him the expression that black and white film did. As time and technology changed, Seitz found himself utilizing digital cameras to create his photographs. Recently, he began working in the traditional darkroom again, and uses film for almost all of his fine art photography. His work has garnered numerous awards, is in several collections around the nation, and has been shown locally at the Guild of Creative Art, Art Alliance, as well as in New York City and Vermont, where the curator for the show, National Geographic Photo Editor Kurt Mutchler selected one of his photographs from Acadia National Park. As mentioned, Seitz also had his first solo show at McKay Imaging of Red Bank, NJ.
