BRICK, NJ — If you are the parent or guardian of a child who challenges you on a daily basis, or a teacher who works with a "difficult" child, the Brick Township Schools are hosting a program for you.

The program, called the Nurtured Heart Approach, offers strategies for parents and teachers for working with so-called "difficult" children.

"The Nurtured Heart Approach was first introduced in the book 'Transforming the Difficult Child,' which became a national bestseller," a flier from the school district says.

"The Nurtured Heart Approach has been shown to create transformative changes in children diagnosed with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder and other behavioral, emotional and anxiety related symptoms," according to the Children's Success Foundation, which promotes the book and the approach.

The program is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Brick Township High School. The program is free but registration is required in advance because space is limited.
