BRICK, NJ — Severe thunderstorms packing heavy rain and frequent lightning drenched Brick Township Tuesday night, leaving roads all over town impassable and knocking out power to hundreds of homes.

Brick Township police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office issued multiple alerts during and just after the storm, urging drivers to stay off the roads, which flooded in several areas.

Mantoloking Road had 10 inches of water in the area from Traders Cove to the Mantoloking Bridge, police said.
