JACKSON, NJ — Roller coaster enthusiasts who have been waiting for the latest addition to the thrill rides at Six Flags Great Adventure will have to wait a bit longer for The Flash: Vertical Velocity to make its debut.

Construction delays have resulted in a decision to push the opening date to 2025, park officials announced.

"When it comes to delivering fun and safe attractions, we won't rush the construction process," a statement posted to the park's social media said. "That means we are moving the official opening of The Flash: Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Great Adventure to 2025."

"We appreciate your patience and understanding. We are confident it will be worth the wait," the statement said.

The Flash: Vertical Velocity will be the first triple-launch super boomerang coaster to open in North America. It rushes forward and backward at nearly 60 miles per hour through a 180-degree twisted drop and zero-G roll, officials said. There also will be the new The Flash store with items to commemorate the ride experience.
