WATCH: Jackson Girl, Daughter Of Pop Star, Gains 'American Idol' Spot

Gianna Isabella, daughter of Brenda K. Starr, is one of the contestants on the final season of the show.

JACKSON, NJ -- A 15-year-old from Jackson Township has made it through the initial audition stages of the final season of the TV show American Idol.

Gianna Isabella Petrone, a student at Jackson Memorial High School, isn’t your average singing teenager, however: Gianna’s mother is Brenda K. Starr, best known for the late 1980s hit “I Still Believe.”

The teen performed the song “House of the Rising Sun,” during the auditions, and was sent through to the next round of the competition.

Gianna has a Facebook page for her music, Gianna Isabella Music, and where she says she began singing at the age of 6 and won the 2014 Dream Night Talent Search in New York.
