Watch Tim Tebow Play Baseball In Lakewood

Tebow, who is playing for the New York Mets' minor league team the Columbia Fireflies, will be in town for four games this weekend.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback who has turned his attention and skills to baseball, will be in Lakewood this weekend for four games against the Lakewood BlueClaws.

Tebow, 29, signed a minor-league baseball contract with the New York Mets last fall. He's assigned to the Columbia Fireflies, the Class A affiliate of the Mets, and the Fireflies are due in Lakewood for the four-game set that begins Saturday.

Tebow's appearances have garnered large crowds wherever the Fireflies have played, and according to a report in USA Today, his No. 15 jersey already has become one of the team's biggest sellers.

Tebow was a first-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in 2010 and led the Broncos to their first NFL playoff win in six years by defeating Pittsburgh in 2011. He was traded to the New York Jets before the 2012 season, and spent time with the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Fireflies are 14-16 as of Sunday's games. Tebow is hitting .242 with two home runs.
