15-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit By Car, Hospitalized In Bridgewater

A Raritan driver reportedly hit the teen on Monday night in the Township.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A 15-year-old bicyclist was hit by a car and sent to a hospital on Monday night in Bridgewater.

On Aug. 12 at 5:57 p.m., the Bridgewater Township Police Department were called to a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on Walters Brook Drive, near the intersection of Purcell Road.

Jared Koren, 20, of Raritan, was driving a 2020 Mazda CX3 and was traveling north on Walters Brook Drive when he hit a male juvenile bicyclist near the intersection of Purcell Road, said Bridgewater Police Officer Ryan Veneman.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital New Brunswick with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed against Koren as of Tuesday. However, this crash is still under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
