Bridgewater's Casey Murphy, US Women's Soccer Team Win Olympic Gold In Paris

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater native Casey Murphy has won a gold medal competing with the United States Women’s National Team(USWNT) at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School graduate Murphy played as the goalkeeper on the team.

"Congratulations to Casey and the entire US Women's Soccer team for winning Olympic GOLD at Paris 2024. We are SO proud of every single one of you!" said Bridgewater Township Government.

The Women’s Team claimed their fifth Olympic gold medal on Saturday after defeating Brazil with a 1-0 score.

The 2024 Olympic gold medal is added to the U.S.'s other gold medals won in 1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Murphy previously played as the starting goalkeeper for the USA at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea where the USA finished fourth.

At 6-foot-1, Murphy is the tallest goalkeeper in USWNT history. She also recorded her 10th career shutout on April 11, 2023, against the Republic of Ireland, making her the ninth goalkeeper in USWNT history to reach double-digit shutouts.
