Food Supplies Critically Low At Raritan Food Pantry

The number of families the Pantry serves has "consistently grown over time and does not seem to be going down anytime soon."

RARITAN, NJ — The Raritan Food Pantry is running "critically low" on all nonperishable items.

The pantry at 28 Thompson Street, Raritan, noted that they served 59 families within their store on Wednesday night. And the number of families they serve has "consistently grown over time and does not seem to be going down anytime soon," said Pantry President Kellyann Gallagher.

By comparison, the Pantry's average used to be around 35 to 40 families per shift.

The Pantry is asking for the following nonperishable food items:

  • Canned soups and stews
  • Canned veggies
  • Pasta and sauce
  • Canned or dry beans
  • Cereal or pancake mix
  • White rice
  • Canned pasta dinners like spaghetti-o’s or ravioli
  • Canned or jarred fruit such as peaches, pears or applesauce

The Raritan Food Pantry is open on Tuesday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. to accept donations.

Any businesses interested in doing a food drive are asked to reach out to the Pantry at [email protected] and they can coordinate an alternate drop-off time if needed.
