3 Speed Humps Coming To Residential Road In North Caldwell

Three speed humps are coming to Smull, and try saying that three times fast. They will calm traffic in North Caldwell, a report says.

Speed humps are less aggressive than speed bumps. They are often used to slow traffic on residential roads that already have low speed limits.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — What's the difference between a speed bump and a speed hump? Several miles per hour, actually. Speed "humps" are used often in residential areas that already have low speed limits, and are meant to slow traffic, less aggressively than "bumps."

The long and winding road known as Smull Avenue in North Caldwell will get three speed humps to slow traffic later this year, according to a report in The Progress this week.

The story in the Progress noted that Borough Administrator Kevin O'Sullivan will determine in the next few weeks where exactly the three speed humps will go on Smull. He gave the information to the mayor and council at the most recent council meeting on July 19.
