CALDWELLS, NJ — Some rain is likely headed Caldwell's way on Saturday, but skies are expected to clear up on Sunday, weather forecasters say.

Rainstorms have become more of a concern throughout New Jersey in recent years after severe flooding, including the devastation caused during Hurricane Ida in 2021. That includes Essex County, where several rivers in the region routinely rise above their flood levels when the weather gets particularly ugly.

Thankfully, the rain that is expected to come to the Caldwells this weekend is relatively mild: “between a quarter and half of an inch,” forecasters with the National Weather Service say.

LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

Here’s the weekend weather prediction for the Caldwells, according to the NWS:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 44. South wind 7 to 11 mph.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 35. South wind 6 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight.

Saturday: Rain, mainly after 7am. High near 48. East wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 45. East wind 6 to 9 mph becoming north after midnight.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. North wind 8 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
