Caldwells Obituary: Patrick Lapone, Notre Dame Founding Parishioner, West Essex Lions Club Member

The longtime North Caldwell resident co-founded Ozone Confectioners and Kings Candy Company in Elmwood Park.

North Caldwell, NJ – Longtime North Caldwell resident Patrick Lapone passed away on May 5.

The following obituary comes courtesy of Farmer Funeral Home:

“Patrick Lapone, 93, of North Caldwell, died on May 5, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

“Patrick was born in Palermo, Italy and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was four years old, residing in Queens, NY. For the past 60 years, he has been a resident of North Caldwell, NJ. He received his bachelor''s degree from St. John''s University in Queens and went on to co-found Ozone Confectioners and Kings Candy Company in Elmwood Park with his brothers Salvatore and Louis approximately 70 years ago. He was working up until approximately one year ago.

“Patrick was one of the founding parishioners of Notre Dame Parish in North Caldwell and remained active in his church community. He was also a member of the West Essex Lions Club and the National Candy Club.

“He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Annette M. Lapone; his brother, Salvatore and his sisters in-law, Eleanor and Jessie.

“Surviving are his beloved sons, Vincent and his wife Lucille, Michael and his wife Lisa, Patrick Jr., and Paul and his wife Aleta; loving grandchildren, Andrew, Veronica, Amanda, Daniel, Philip, Christopher, Abigail, Patrick III, and Gabriella and his dear brother Louis Lapone.

“In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.”
