'Chanukah Wonderland' Brightens Up The Caldwells: 2023 Holidays

The event saw an unbelievable turnout that surpassed all expectations, Chabad of the Caldwells said.

Fireman’s Community Center was ablaze with joy and festivity on Sunday, Dec. 10, as the Jewish community came together in an incredible display of unity and celebration for the first-ever local Chanukah Wonderland.

The event, organized by Chabad of the Caldwells, saw an unbelievable turnout that surpassed all expectations. Families and individuals congregated at the center, underscoring the significance of this cherished holiday.

"It was heartwarming to witness the support from our community for the Chanukah Wonderland and Menorah Lighting," remarked Rabbi Shmuly Sputz, co-director of Chabad of the Caldwells. "The message of Chanukah, symbolizing light and unity, shone brightly as we came together to celebrate."

The evening started with an exciting Wonderland filled with many hands-on activities for children and good food, culminating with the lighting of the grand balloon Menorah, by North Caldwell Mayor Josh Raymond. In addition, attendees enjoyed catching Chaukah parachutes and received Chocolate Gelt coins which were handed out by the Mayor.

"This event not only marks a celebration of our traditions but also stands as a testament to the strength of our community bonds," added Mrs. Gittel Sputz, co-director of Chabad of the Caldwells. "The enthusiasm displayed by everyone present truly made this celebration special."

As well, the event included Chanukah music and the traditional holiday delicacies of latkes and donuts, creating an unforgettable experience for all who attended. Children pressed olives to create olive oil, created wax candles, received Chanukah-themed glitter tattoos, and enjoyed a variety of crafts and activities.

Chabad of the Caldwells would like to thank the North Caldwell mayor and council, the North Caldwell Fire Department, and North Caldwell Police Department for making this event happen.
