Flood Watch In The Caldwells: Weekend Weather Forecast

CALDWELLS, NJ — A hard rain’s gonna fall in the Caldwells this weekend, weather forecasters predict.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Flood Watch will be in effect for the Caldwell area from Saturday morning through late Saturday night. A total of 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain is in the forecast, with higher amounts possible.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” forecasters said, adding that creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

Flooding may also take place in “poor drainage and urban areas,” forecasters noted.

Here’s what is in store for the Caldwells this weekend, according to the NWS:

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Rain, mainly after 11pm. Low around 39. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 49. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. North wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. North wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.
