Lived 'Amazing Life Of 103 Years': WWII Veteran, Business Owner From West Caldwell Dies

He lived to be 103 years, served in WWII, raised a family, and ran "Style with Tile" in the Caldwells. His funeral is Wednesday.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — He was a World War II Veteran, West Caldwell business owner, and a railroad car inspector. Ferdinando “Fred” Coppolino of West Caldwell lived an "amazing life" before his death on Friday at 103, his obituary says.

Coppolino owned Style with Tile & Marble in West Caldwell.

He was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy in 1920 and came to the United States as a teenager in 1936, according to his obituary. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Philomena Murdaco in 1942, raised a family in Jersey City, and moved to West Caldwell in 1965.

He was predeceased by his wife and by three sons — Theodore, Daniel, and Frederick — as well as grandson Mark and great-grandson Henry. But he is survived by children Carmela “Cookie” Donnelly, and Catherine and David Coppolino, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
