Mount Soccer Soars To Undefeated, 10-0 Record for the Start of October

Mount Soccer is having an incredible season. With a record of, 10-0, they are ranked #20 in the State (NJ.com ranking).

Mount Soccer is having an incredible season. With a record of, 10-0, they are ranked #20 in the State (NJ.com ranking). Gianna Camporeale ‘26 has been a real trailblazer, knocking in goals on a weekly basis. After winning two shutout games last week, all eyes will be on the team in the coming weeks as the Essex County Soccer Tournament gets underway.

Continuing to hold its winning streak, on Saturday, Sept. 30, Mount Soccer shutout James Caldwell High School, 6-0. Caitlin Caufield ‘24 scored 2 goals, and Erin Murphy ‘24, Reina Casas ‘27, Gianna Camporeale ‘26, and Eliza Haghighi ‘24 each put one goal in the net. Goalies Frankie Mansfield ‘24 and Lorelei Middleton ‘25 each contributed a save in the shutout win. Mount went on to beat Verona in a shutout, 3-0, on Monday, Oct. 2. Camporeale ‘26 notched two goals and Lena Tusche ‘26 added one of her own in addition to an assist in this win. Increasing their overall record to 9-0, the team next defeated West Essex in a shutout, 2-0, on Tuesday, Oct. 3, with Sophia Giordano ‘27 and Camporeale ‘26 scoring the goals in this one. Goalie Frankie Mansfield ‘24 had three saves in this shutout win. On Friday, Oct. 6, the team defeated Millburn 1-0 in 2OT, bringing its record to 10-0. Caitlin Caufield ‘24 scored the golden goal in double overtime, and Lena Tusche ‘26 had the assist. Goalie Frankie Mansfield ‘24 made three big saves in the shutout win

The team next plays Glen Ridge High School on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Tennis (7-4)

Mount Tennis began the week strong by beating Columbia High School, 3-2. Their prowess on the court continued on Thursday, Oct. 5, when they defeated Immaculate Heart Academy in the Non Public A North State Tournament, 3-2, to advance to the 1/4 Final round against the #1 seed Pingry High School. Rebecca Hess '24 had a tremendous weekend, going 3-0 and advancing to the round of 8 in the NJSIAA State Tennis Singles Tournament.

They will play Montclair Kimberley Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 11, and West Essex High School on Friday, Oct. 12. In addition, Rebecca Hess '27 will be playing in the NJ State Singles Tournament this coming weekend.

Volleyball (6-10)

Mount Volleyball started out strong on Saturday, Sept. 30, beating Caldwell High School, 2-1, headlined by 10 assists and 3 digs by Izzy Rivera ‘24 and 8 digs and 3 kills by Ariana Rivera ‘26. The team then lost to both West Essex High School and Verona, 0-2. The team took another hit on Monday, Oct. 2, losing to Millburn, 0-2. Mount Volleyball bounced back on Wednesday, Oct. 4, when they went on to beat Mount Saint Marys, 2-0, and advanced to the 1/4 round of the Prep Tournament. Izzy Rivera ‘24 notched 13 assists, while Jill Camposogrado ‘26 made 7 digs. On Friday’s “Dig Pink” Game, Oct. 6, the team lost a heartbreaker to Verona 2-1. Also on Friday, Mount Volleyball raised $1,600 for Minette’s Angels Foundation, which provides assistance and support to those in treatment, and promotes breast health awareness!

The team next plays a Dig Pink game against West Essex on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and Oak Knoll School on Friday, Oct. 12.

Field Hockey (2-8-2)

Mount Field Hockey took a hit on Monday, Oct. 2, losing to Verona, 1-3. The team then lost to Caldwell High School, 0-2, on Thursday, Oct. 5, and to Glen Ridge on Monday, Oct. 9.

They will next face Glen Ridge High School on Monday, Oct. 9, and Newark Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Track and Field

In Mount Track and Field news, Adrianna Cacciacarne '24 has committed to attend Lafayette College to continue her athletic career in Track and Field.
