New North Indian Restaurant Brings Kebabs And Curry To Essex County

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Kebabs and Kurries, a "modern North India and Indo-Chinese inspired restaurant," had a soft opening during the pandemic, but finally held its grand opening in February in Fairfield.

The restaurant, part of the Fine Indian Dining Group (which includes Sahib, Dhaba, Wok In The Clouds and more), features the top dishes from parent restaurant Dhaba in New York City.

The menu features sharable dishes with appetizers like chicken Samosas, spiced minced chicken filling wrapped in pastry wrap or their classic Moong Dal soup made with lentils and peppers with vegetables or chicken, with their finest spices.

For main dishes they offer vegetarian and non-vegetarian options like a Baigan Da Bharta, tandoor smoked eggplants cooked with garden herbs, or Butter Panner, cottage cheese in a creamy tomato sauce with fenugreek bell pepper.

The Kebab Platter is vegetable, chicken, lamb, seafood with flavored rice, lettuce, kebab sauce and sauteed vegetables and Fried Desi Wings in chili sauce or creamy malai marinade make for the perfect finger foods.

They also offer side dishes like Pickles, mango chutney with mango fermented with honey, Boondi Raita with yogurt with cucumbers, tomato, onion, and Indian spices, topped with boondi. as well as a refreshing green salad with cucumber, onions, tomato tossed together with Indian spices and house dressing.

A variety of Indian inspired sandwiches are made on fresh rolls.

For dessert, they offer traditional Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, deep fried milk dumplings in cardamon flavored sugar syrup and Rabri, a sweet milk dessert with a layer of ice cream on top.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. The main dining room seats 50. Takeout and delivery are available.
