NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Several weeks of road construction are scheduled to kick off in North Caldwell this September, borough officials announced Thursday.

According to a municipal advisory, Riverview Paving will begin replacing or installing limited curbs on several local roads beginning “on or about” Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The work – which will be dependent on the weather – will last about two or three weeks, and will include restoration of any disturbed driveways or lawn areas, officials said.

The following streets are scheduled to be milled and repaved this fall:

  • Soder Road
  • Birch Avenue
  • Pine Place
  • Squire Hill Road
  • Longview Avenue
  • Norwood Terrace
  • Eton Drive
  • Byron Road

Maywood Court was previously scheduled for paving this year, but it will be delayed until 2024 due to ongoing PSE&G work throughout that neighborhood.

Borough officials said that roads will be open to local traffic during curb reconstruction, but “delays and inconvenience should be expected.” Residents should “park their cars elsewhere” during construction and drive slowly through construction zones.

Milling and paving of these streets is expected to take place in October, subject to contractor availability and cooperative weather conditions. Additional notices will be distributed closer to the actual construction, officials said.

The borough will work with all contractors to minimize impacts to residents and schools, officials said.
