Ugly Weather, Rain In Caldwell's Future This Week: Forecasters

Sometimes when it rains, it pours. And a soggy week may be in the cards for the Caldwells, weather forecasters say.

CALDWELLS, NJ — Sometimes when it rains, it pours. And a soggy week may be in the cards for the Caldwells, weather forecasters say.

Up to a quarter inch of rain has already dropped in the Garden State as of Wednesday morning, and up to four inches of precipitation are in the cards through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). See Related: Flood Warnings Issued As Heavy Rain Moves Into NJ

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for the area until late Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, forecasters have issued a flood warning beginning Thursday morning for the Passaic River at Pine Brook, which affects communities in Passaic, Essex and Morris counties. Here’s the forecast for the Caldwell area as of Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 53. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain, mainly before midnight. The rain could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 50. North wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 52. North wind 13 to 17 mph.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain before 1am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 37. North wind 10 to 14 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. North wind 8 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 46.

Saturday Night: Rain. Low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Sunday: Rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Breezy.
