West Caldwell Recycling Change; No More Plastic Bags, Town Says
West Caldwell's waste disposal company has stopped collecting recycling that contains plastic bags, officials said.
WEST CALDWELL, NJ — West Caldwell’s waste disposal company has stopped collecting recycling that contains plastic bags, town officials announced this week.
On Thursday, West Caldwell town officials issued an alert via social media, reminding residents that no plastic bags of any kind are permitted in local recycling.
“Recycling facilities will not accept recycling that includes plastic bags because they jam recycling equipment and degrade the value of the recycled materials,” officials wrote. “All material should be placed directly into appropriate recycling containers.”

According to officials, “effective immediately,” Cali Carting, the township’s waste disposal company will no longer collect recycling with includes plastic bags.
“Thank you for your anticipated cooperation,” officials added.
