CHATHAM, NJ — More than 2 inches of rain hit Chatham as a storm passed through Thursday. And the area could get even more precipitation Friday night and Saturday, according to forecasters.

The storm brought 2.23 inches of rain to the Chatham area, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The Passaic River in Chatham came close to flooding Thursday night but has since slightly receded.

  • Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Friday night: Scattered showers, mainly after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
  • Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36.
