$33K Donated To Chatham First Responders, Local Organizations

The Chatham Turkey Trot recently announced the distribution of $33,000 to six organizations throughout the Chatham community.

CHATHAM, NJ — This month, the Chatham Turkey Trot organization was able to finalize the distribution of $33,000 to six organizations supporting Chatham's first responders, diabetes research and education, and cancer research.

The proceeds are the result of the 15th annual Chatham Turkey Trot, which was held on Thanksgiving Day in Chatham Township.

The Chatham Turkey Trot has now raised more than $300,000 in its 15 years of existence, benefiting the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Chatham Emergency Squad, the Chatham Township PBA #170, the Diabetes Research Institute, the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This year’s funds were distributed as follows:

  • The Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department: $10,000
  • The Chatham Emergency Squad: $10,000
  • The Diabetes Research Institute: $5,000
  • The Barton Center for Diabetes Education: $5,000
  • The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: $2,000
  • The Chatham Township Police Department PBA #170: $1,000

"The 15th annual Chatham Turkey Trot was one of our most successful races ever, attracting more than 1,300 runners and raising important funds for our first responders and organizations supporting diabetes research and education," said Curt Ritter, founder and president of The Chatham Turkey Trot.

The 16th Annual Chatham Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 2024, in the Highlands section of Chatham Township. Individuals interested can register at www.TheChathamTurkeyTrot.org before Nov. 1 to receive a T-shirt.

"Over the past 15 years, the Chatham Turkey Trot has become a family holiday tradition, representing all that is great about the Chatham community. We thank our sponsors and participants for making this one of the most popular events in Morris County to kick off the holiday season,” Ritter said.
