CHATHAM, NJ — New Jersey has some of the country's top breweries and one of them is located right here in Chatham.

Twin Elephant Brewing Company was named the 19th best brewery in the state by Brewery Star. The entertainment and local travel website uses publicly available beer and venue ratings to rank the breweries.

Last week, Brewery Stars published their updated list of best breweries in the Garden State, and Twin Elephant Brewing Company found a place in the top 20.

Twin Elephant Brewing Company, located at 13 Watchung Avenue in Chatham, was founded by three partners looking to turn their love of brewing craft beers into an exciting shared adventure with the local community.

Scott McLuskey and Tim Besecker have been home brewing together for over ten years, beginning in the garage, as most people do, and Cindy DeRama has joined the crew in the last five years, according to the company website.

"Our vision is for our patrons to enjoy these unique local beers in a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere that augments their tasting experience and to share their thoughts with each other as well as us so we can continually improve," officials said.

DeRama previously discussed with Patch potential business frustrations related to a new set of restrictions imposed on microbreweries across the state by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Being limited to 25 special events includes limiting live music, charity events, local artist pop-ups, etc. Breweries become part of their local communities and support their towns and local businesses and vice versa," DeRama said.
