Chatham Area Gets Several Inches Of Snow In Last Storm

CHATHAM, NJ — After the brunt of the storm passed through Morris County on Sunday night into Monday, the actual snowfall totals were on par with the National Weather Service predictions.

The Weather Service, which initially forecast 2 to 4 inches of precipitation for this last storm, ended up lowering it between 2 to 3 inches, while adding in a Winter Weather advisory. Chatham’s actual snowfall total was measured at 2.3 inches at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

New Jersey’s highest snowfall totals were in Sussex County, with 7 inches measured in Wantage and 6 at High Point State Park in Montague.

Here’s Chatham’s upcoming National Weather Service forecast through Friday, with a chances of rain and snow expected on Wednesday and Friday nights, including accumulations of about a half an inch of snow possible on Wednesday.

By Tuesday Morning: Isolated snow showers before 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 23. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 22. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of rain before midnight, then rain and snow likely between midnight and 4am, then snow likely after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 23.

Friday Night: A chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
