Chatham High School Alumni Duo To Perform At Library

CHATHAM, NJ — A first-time concert event featuring two Chatham High School graduates is scheduled on the library’s lawn for Friday, Sept. 3, beginning at 7 p.m.

Known throughout New Jersey’s performing arts arena while they were each in high school, Jacob Mathews - a singer and songwriter - and performer Grace Petersen, will perform “reimagined hit songs,” according to the Library of the Chathams.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the show featuring Mathews, now a student at Drexel University; and Petersen at Northwestern University.

While at Chatham High School, Mathews did a TEDxYouth talk in 2020, with the theme “Setting the Stage For a Better World.”

He has been a frequent concert performer in the past at the Library of the Chathams and has recorded a studio album, plus has singles available on major streaming platforms.

Petersen earned a 2021 Governor’s Award for the Arts in Music Education this past May. While at Chatham High School, she was involved with the Select Choir, Honors Music Program and was captain of the “No Strings Attached” a cappella group at the high school.

Petersen has additionally had the opportunity to perform at Radio City Music Hall, Paper Mill Playhouse and Union County Performing Arts Center.
