Chatham School Board Prez Who Lead Regionalization Effort Dead At 78

Grace Paddon lived in the area for 26 years.

CHATHAM, N.J. – To say Grace Paddon left her mark on the Chatham area would be a vast understatement.

The Chatham Townhip resident of 26 years died recently at the age of 78, according to her obituary.

Paddon lived in Chatham Township from 1973 to 1999 and served on the board of education for 10 years. During that time she was elected president and lead the charge to regionalize the Chatham Borough and Chatham Township school districts, which went into effect in 1988.

Paddon was an active member of the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church where she and her late husband Jack were heavily involved.

She is survived by three children and three grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held Feb. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham. A memorial service will be held at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church on Friday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church.
