Chatham's Fishawack Festival Has Exciting Entertainment Acts Lined Up For The Weekend

CHATHAM, NJ — With the long-awaited Retro Fishawack Festival planned for this coming weekend, Chatham Borough has announced the festival’s entertainment lineup.

On Friday, Sept. 24, the festival is planned from 4 to 7 p.m., with entertainment including:

  • From 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. - Dance Innovations, Chatham’s performing dancers under Susan McCutcheon
  • From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Blue Soul performs blues, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues and funk, with Bailey Gee the group’s musical director on bass and vocals, Herb Woodson on lead vocals, Mike Hogan playing guitar, Ted Brancato on the piano and Joe DeVico on percussion

On Friday, Sept. 25, the festival is expected to run for the day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the following:

  • From 10 to 10:45 a.m. - Dance Innovations hits the stage for another performance
  • From 11 a.m. to noon - Local guitarist and vocalist Mike Sodano plays favorites from Harry Chapin, James Taylor, the Eagles and America
  • From noon to 1 p.m. - Chatham Borough Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz and the Borough Council are scheduled to present the Volunteer Appreciation Awards
  • From 1 to 2 p.m. - School of Rock Chatham hits the stage, part of the School of Rock movement for students in all age groups
  • From 2 to 3:30 p.m. - Save Mary, a New Jersey cover band, performs classic rock to today’s hits, with vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist James Barba, bassist Robert Marchiano, Peter Tolias on guitar and Mark Lee on percussion
  • From 3:30 to 5 p.m. - John McDermott Band offers its “Sixties Rock and Roll Revue” from music history’s best known rock bands
  • From 5 to 7 p.m. - “Unplugged” is a collaborative of Chatham musicians who like to jam, including Joe Piccari, Mike McLaughlin, Chris Tomato and Sal Arnuk, with Bobby “Tambo” Maloney of Staten Island, joining the performance

On Sunday, Sept. 26, the festival is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m., with the following:

  • From 4 to 5 p.m. - Coffee House Project, showing music’s impact on “personal wellness,” as a way to create community and to “practice inclusiveness and encourage commitment to shared outcomes”
  • From 5 to 7 p.m. - Rosewood performs with hits from the 60s to the current day, as well as original numbers, with Mary McManus on vocals and percussion, John McManus on guitar and vocals, Leo McClusky on lead guitar and vocals, Rich Haddad on bass and vocals and Dave Hartkern on drums and vocals

Announced on Thursday is the Woody Jackson "Moo-vement" artwork from 1988. Find out more here about the artist and history, with "Down Home Chatham" the theme from that year. Purple Aardvark at 240 Main Street is hosting the drawing.
