Lottery Scheduled For Inclusion Preschool Class In Chatham

CHATHAM, NJ — The School District of the Chathams will soon be holding a lottery drawing for entrance into the Integrated Preschool program, administrators announced.

Students must be residents of Chatham Borough or Chatham Township.

In order to be eligible, a child must reach the age of three before Oct. 1, 2023, and must not be turning five before Oct. 1, 2024. All children must also be toilet-trained to attend.

Enrollment in the program is limited and will be determined by a lottery drawing to be held on Feb. 2.

Selected families will be notified during the week of Feb. 5. Children not selected and children submitted on or after Feb. 2 will remain in the lottery pool and will be selected as openings occur.

Tuition for general education students is $3,300 for the 10-month school year. The program runs five days per week in either an a.m. or p.m. session.

Transportation to and from Milton Avenue School must be provided by the family.

The inclusion preschool is made up of both special needs children and generally developing preschoolers. Children with and without disabilities are provided with learning opportunities to enhance academic and social achievement in a "We All Belong" environment, according to administrators.

Applications for the preschool lottery can be submitted up until Feb. 1, district officials said.

To have a child included in the lottery, send a letter of interest with the child’s name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth and verification that the child is toilet trained to:
