After what has seemed like unending days of cold weather and precipitation, there’s a taste of summer coming this weekend. We just have to get through the rain on Friday.

The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s on Saturday, with abundant sunshine -- the kind of day that will have people breaking out the shorts and flip-flops and heading to the beach.

But like an appetizer before the main meal, Saturday’s beautiful weather is going to give way to a return of the chill and clouds on Sunday. Take heart, however: Memorial Day weekend is just five weeks away.

Friday

Midnight-6 a.m.: 50 degrees, showers likely.

6 a.m.-noon: 61 degrees, showers likely.

Noon-6 p.m.: 67 degrees, isolated thunderstorms.

6 p.m.-midnight: 59 degrees, isolated thunderstorms, changing to partly cloudy by 9 p.m.

Saturday

Midnight-6 a.m.: 52 degrees. Mostly clear.

6 a.m.-noon: Temperatures rising to 67 degrees. Mostly sunny.

Noon-6 p.m.: High reaches 71 degrees, possibly warmer. Breezy, with west winds up to 28 mph.

6 p.m.-midnight: Temperatures fall to about 50 degrees by midnight.

Sunday

Midnight-6 a.m.: Temperature falls to 41 degrees. Mostly clear.

6 a.m.-noon: Sunny, high around 56.

Noon-6 p.m.: High near 60. Partly cloudy.

6 p.m.-midnight: Mostly cloudy, 52 degrees.

Monday

Rain possible, especially after 2 a.m. Lows around 50 degrees, rising as high as near 57. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
