Utility Work May Cause Traffic Delays In Chatham

Only one lane is expected to be open on Watchung Avenue and River Road on Wednesday, Chatham Borough officials said.

CHATHAM, NJ — Drivers heading through Chatham on Wednesday may encounter traffic delays in the area of Watchung Avenue and River Road, according to the Borough of Chatham.

Chatham Borough alerted drivers that on Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Watchung Avenue and River Road, the road is expected to be shut down to one lane because of utility work.

Drivers may experience heavy traffic delays and should plan an alternate route, the borough stated in its alert.

On Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Milton Avenue is also scheduled to be closed with a detour in place for a pipe installation, the borough said in a separate alert.
