In 2022, the county revealed plans to build a skate park as part of Parks Alive 2025— a $100 million initiative to revitalize Camden County's park system, which includes Cooper River Park.

Seacoast Construction, Inc., a concrete contractor based in East Brunswick, will build the park for $913,410. Another company submitted a cheaper bid at just under $810,000. But the County Board of Commissioners rejected the proposal because it didn't comply with project specifications, officials said.

Most of the skate park is county-funded, with $87,000 coming from a state grant.
