Cranford Girls Track Wins the U.C.C. Mountain Division Championship

Boys place 4th in U.C.C. Mountain Division

The Cranford High School Girls Track and Field team were crowned as the Union County Conference Mountain Division Co-Champions on, of all days, Friday the 13th. Oak Knoll tied with the Cougars for the team championship. The two (2) day meet was held at Governor Livingston High School.
The team received great performances from several athletes. Senior Zoe Hamilton won the Long Jump (16’ 08.5”), Triple Jump (34’ 03.5”) and finished 4th in the 100 Meters (12.81 - PR). Freshman Isabella Alvarez-Gomez dominated the 400 Hurdles winning the race by over 3 seconds (1:07.11 - PR). She placed 3rd in the 100 Hurdles (16.77 - PR) and was a member of the 4X400 Meter Relay team that placed 3rd.
Junior Bella DeStefano won the Javelin with a PR of 92’ 10”. Senior Ariel Hsu (88’ 05” - PR) placed 2nd in the Discus and 4th in the Shot Put (28’ 09.25 - PR). Junior Tori Aslin (87’ 04” - PR) placed 4th in the Discus (87’ 04” - PR) and Javelin (85’ 02”-PR). Sophomore Kristen Fries placed 3rd in the Shot Put (31’ 07.25” - PR).
Junior Rose Deeb placed 2nd in the Pole Vault (7’ 06”) while Freshman Kelsey McIntyre placed 6th (6’ 00” - PR). Freshman Elle Semple placed 5th in the 400 Meters (1:02.16 - PR). Senior Maggie Furer placed 4th in the 3200 (11:57.98 - PR). Juniors Audrey McMahon (4’ 06” - PR) and Breona Pizzuta (4’ 06”) tied for 5th place in the High Jump.

The Cranford Boys Track and Field team placed 4th in the Mountain Division. The team was led by Junior Sam Beck who won the 3200 (10:14.61) and placed 3rd in the 1600 (4:39.40 - PR). Senior Marcus Shillingford placed 3rd in the 110H (16.06 - PR) and 4th in the 400H (1:02.02 - PR). Junior John Attebury placed 3rd in the 400H (1:01.78) and 6th in the 110H (18.35). Senior Larry Phanor placed 3rd in the Pole Vault (10’ 00”). Junior Owen Usinowicz placed 5th in the Pole Vault (10” 00”) and 4th in the 110H (16.45 - PR).
Junior Declan Quigley placed 3rd in the Javelin (123’ 09” - PR) while Sophomore Will O’Keefe placed 6th (113’ 11” - PR). Sophomore Ben Fossella placed 3rd in the Shot Put (46’ 01.5”) and placed 5th in the Discus (103’ 04” - PR). Sophomore Christian Moroses placed 5th in the Long Jump (19’ 07.25”). The 4X400 Relay team placed 6th (3:47.37).
