Cranford Track Team Competes in Group 3 State Meet

Usinowicz places 8th in the Boys Pole Vault, Deeb places 10th in the Girls Pole Vault, Fossella places 13th in the Boys Shot Put

The Cranford Track and Field team competed in the Group 3 Track and Field State Championship Meet held at the Bennett Center in Toms River. The team was represented by six (6) athletes who qualified the previous week at the North 2 Group 3 Sectional Meet.

Junior Owen Usinowicz had the highest placing of the day by finishing in 8th place in the Boys Group 3 Pole Vault jumping a personal best of 10' 06".

Junior Rose Deeb cleared a height of 8' 00" to place 10th in the Girls Group 3 Pole Vault

Soph Ben Fossella threw the 12 lb. shot a distance of 43’04” to earn 13th place in the Boys Group 3 Shot Put.

Also competing in the meet were Larry Phalon (senior pole vault), Ariel Hsu (senior shot put), and Kristen Fries (soph shot put).

This meet completed a successful winter track season. The spring track season begins on March 7th. Any CHS student who would like to join the team should contact Coach Schiano at the high school for more information.
