LUCKY LOUIE movie proves it's never too late!

Ironically the film seems to have taken its theme from real life.

Lucky Louie's theme - the theme of it's never too late - 'seems to echo its roots in real life.

The movie tells the story of a young graduate student - Alex D'Ambrosio (played nicely by young ingenue Madelyn Dundon, who previously starred in Getting Grace from the same filmmakers) - as she attempts to solve a 50-year-old bank robbery for her senior thesis, all the while Wilbert Moser, long-retired detective, remains haunted by his inability to solve the very same case.

Moser is played by long-time character actor Basil Hoffman, who very appropriately discovered it's never too late to get a leading role, as this would become his first and last. Sadly we lost Hoffman in September of 2021.

It's safe to say he made the most of playing Detective Moser, who along with D'Ambrosio does finally solve the crime of the century. Much like the actor playing him, Detective Moser finally manages to get the monkey off his back and achieve a sort of bliss and peace.

But how this dynamic duo get there is a large part of the story. Moser leads a Bible Group of reformed convicts who have turned to the path of the straight and narrow - there's that theme again - and now in his hour of need turns to them to pick their former criminal minds.

The comedy in the film - written and directed by veteran Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Matlock, LOST and Getting Grace) and his daughter Grace Roebuck - really does work. It not only serves to entertain, but to move the story along.

Keeping with its Universal theme, the film was born out of necessity by Daniel and Grace. After seeing things put on hold during the pandemic, the father-daughter team realized it's never too late to start a new project. And boy are we thankful they did.

Dan Roebuck has a major supporting turn in the picture as well, along with exceptional performances by Duane Whitaker, Marsha Dietlein, Timothy Goodwin and Stephanie Zimbalist, who many will remember as the female lead in Remington Steele.

But we keep coming back to the movie's lead character, Moser, who like the very actor that portrayed him, saved the best for last.
