EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Crystal Springs Water Park in East Brunswick will soon get a competition-sized swimming pool.

The announcement was made by Mayor Brad Cohen and the Township Council.

The township got a $500,000 grant in the 2025 NJ State Budget which will be used to extend one of the pools, the Mayor said.

“The extension will make it a competition-sized pool and the money will also be used towards enclosing the pool and providing a retractable roof. Full funding will be raised through other grants and funds that come out of our Redevelopment projects,” Cohen said.

With help from this grant, East Brunswick will be able to provide water programs to residents year-round.

“The pool will be available for our EBPS and Recreational Swim Teams. In addition, we will continue to offer swimming programs and access to the entire EB community,” Cohen said.

“Finally, our Recreation department has become well regarded in the water safety community. We will continue to offer swim programs, water safety classes, and training to water safety professionals. Our aim is to ensure that all residents have the water safety skills to prevent unnecessary deaths due to drowning.”

Cohen thanked Assemblyman Sterley Stanley who helped the township win the grant.

World Aquatics, formerly known as the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), provides guidelines for swimming pool dimensions that are required for competitions.

There are two regulation pool sizes for competitive swimming - short course pools 25×18.29 meter min, with 6 or more lanes; and long course pools – 50×25 meter, with 8-10 lanes.

The admissible tolerance in 50-meter swimming pools will be by minus 0mm and plus 30mm.

And the admissible tolerance in 25-meter swimming pools will be +0.010, -0.000 meters when touch panels are installed, according to World Aquatics.
