New Jersey Direct Mail Marketing Company Plants 1,800 Trees In Hawaii

DK Solutions, based in the Tower Center in East Brunswick, NJ is offsetting its paper usage by planting 3 trees for 1 used by its business.

Thanks to the efforts of one local direct mail marketing company, Hawaii will see over 1,800 new trees take root in some of its most at-risk regions around the state. For its third consecutive year in a row, DK Solutions is making an impact in the United States with its Annual Tree Planting Program.

To reduce its carbon footprint and give back to the environment, DK Solutions strives to replace all trees used for its day-to-day direct mail operations and further replenish America’s forests by replanting triple the number of trees it uses, in areas around the United States.

WHY A TREE PLANTING PROGRAM

When it comes to deforestation, whether from natural disasters or human intervention, Earth's forests and wildlife are almost always vulnerable to outside threats. Since forests cover 30% of the Earth’s surface, any threat to these areas will have disastrous consequences. In fact, 2015 records indicate that global forest cover fell under four billion hectares.

A loss of forests is a loss to everyone, which is why DK Solutions implemented its Annual Tree Planting Program in 2022. This project aims to replant three times the trees the company uses for paper in its targeted direct mail campaigns to offset its effect on our country’s forests. To date over 7,000 tree plantings have been sponsored as part of this initiative.

As a partner with One Tree Planted, DK Solutions seeks to improve its environmental impact in all steps of the direct mail process. Not only does this East Brunswick company use its TargetList methodology to reduce the number of mailers sent out and reduce waste both for its clients as well as the environment, but its Annual Tree Planting Program is another way to leave the world a better place than when the program first began.

WHY A HAWAII PROJECT

For 2024, this NJ-based company is focusing efforts on the Hawaii Project. This project will oversee the replanting of trees across a variety of locations within the state.

“We chose Hawaii for a variety of reasons," Co-Founder and COO Liran Kapoano said. "Not only is it arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, but it’s also a place that is prone to wildfires. Not just from freak events like what happened on Maui, but also from natural volcanic activity.”

He continued, “It is a place that is very close to my heart. I always wanted to visit all 50 states and Hawaii was the last one on my list. Being able to complete a major life goal with my family 2022 was a very emotional experience. And they’ve gone through such a terrible tragedy in that part of the world that we felt that it made the most sense to do whatever we could.”

Due to the terrible Hawaiian wildfires in 2023, it is critical that reforestation efforts go toward rebuilding local wildlife populations and natural protection against wildfires.

As one of the nation’s most beautiful tropical locations, Hawaii hosts a variety of exotic animals and plant life exclusive to the state. Species like the endangered ‘I’iwi bird and Hawaiian horary bat are threatened when their habitats start to shrink. To protect the ‘I’iwi and other exotic creatures, reforestation is essential to replenish these wildlife populations.

THREE TIMES THE TREES IN THREE YEARS

Since launching the Annual Tree Planting Program in 2022, DK Solutions has contributed to over 7,000 new trees being planted across the United States.

As Co-Founder and CEO Joel Dickstein states, “Here at DK Solutions, we strive to reduce unnecessary mail volume in all aspects of our business through our TargetList campaigns. Thanks to our partnership with One Tree Planted, we can help local conservation efforts by planting three trees for every one we use. This allows us not only to replace the trees we use for our mail campaigns, but we also add a surplus to our nation’s national forests.”

Not only does DK Solutions contribute to its Annual Tree Planting Program in April, but this past November also saw a contribution to One Tree Planted’s Giving Tuesday initiative as an additional avenue to give back to the environment.
