2 Men Charged In Connection With Carjacking, Burglary In Bergen County

Following a two-month-long investigation, police identified two suspects in an armed carjacking and a motor vehicle burglary in mid-June.

ROCHELLE PARK, NJ — Two men in their twenties were charged in connection with an armed carjacking and a motor vehicle burglary that occurred on the same day in Bergen County, Prosecutor Mark Musella said Friday.

Following a two-month-long investigation, Elijah Battle, 25, of Paterson, and Anthony Aguilar, 24, who is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail, were identified as suspects in a carjacking in Rochelle Park and a burglary in Maywood, both of which occurred on June 16, Musella said.

Battle was arrested without incident on Thursday, and Aguilar was served with his charges in jail, the prosecutor's office said.

Both suspects were charged with first-degree carjacking, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons, third-degree burglary to a vehicle, third- degree theft, and third-degree receiving stolen property.
