FAIR LAWN, NJ — A visibly distressed man armed with a baseball bat and knife threatened to kill his own father, according to authorities.

No charges were filed against the 25-year-old, who was sent to an area hospital for evaluation after he made the threat around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Fair Lawn, police Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

Police arrived to River Road at Berdan Avenue demanding the man disarm; he tossed the knife on the street but continued to hold the bat. As he began to walk away from officers, the altercation went to the ground and the bat was recovered, police said.
